Indaver Solvents. At its site in Middlewich, Cheshire, UK (with immediate central links to the M6), Indaver operates a solvent recycling facility; accepting hazardous and non-hazardous (waste) solvents. Under the brand name Indaver Solvents, Indaver offers high-end solvent recycling solutions and supports its customers with lab analyses, pilot scale trials and commercial scale recycling. Since 2022, when Indaver purchased this site, there’s been a healthy amount of investment in the site to improve process and the environment where staff work.
This role includes sampling and testing of incoming process streams delivered in drums/ IBC’s. Analytical testing of incoming materials and outgoing products. Maintaining accurate records of all testing and issue of Certificates of Analysis for products. Good housekeeping and compliance with H&SE procedures.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Follow the company’s safe system of work policies and practices, including Laboratory Best Practice in combination with the relevant risk assessment, compliance with PPE policy, accident and near miss reporting, and housekeeping standards.
  • Conduct Laboratory Analysis on Crude, In-process and Dispatch samples.
  • Labelling of Samples as per WI/6.09.12.4(OS)
  • Identification of storage vessels which need to be analysed, requesting samples via email, accepting samples in the laboratory using the incoming samples log – highlighting to the QC Manager when this is used incorrectly.
  • Analysis of submitted samples, completing all stipulated tests as per relevant Chemical Specification Sheets
  • Sampling of incoming crude loads as per WI/6.09.14(OS) – Sampling, Retention, Storage and Disposal.
  • Recording of results in relevant lab books and crudes in product out spreadsheet as per WI/6.09.15(OS)
  • Acceptance/Release of Material as per WI/6.09.16(OS)
  • Maintenance of Laboratory equipment when required
  • Daily replenishment of laboratory supplies, changing of gas cylinders
  • Complete weekly stock checks in the Laboratory area, assist in the ordering of laboratory supplies
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times, wearing correct PPE, maintaining high levels of housekeeping - keeping a clean and orderly environment Completing daily checks of the laboratory balances and LICO colourimeter as per the calibration schedule WI/6.09.8.2(OS)
  • Certify product dispatch notes confirming quality approval in accordance with the product specification on behalf of BIP Resources.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Degree in relevant/complimentary scientific subject and 3+ years in industry.
  • Other qualification (e.g. NVQ) require 5+ years relevant experience
  • Experience leading a small team an advantage
  • Working in an ISO or GMP/Certified laboratory is an advantage
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • GC-FID/MS experience is required (solvent purity analysis)
  • Experience in wet chemistry techniques (KF, pH, titration) • GC method development experience is a significant advantage
  • Critical thinking and independent work ethic is essential
  • Experience of trouble shooting and root cause analysis an advantage
