Responsibilities

The team of Quality Technicians will be deployed to a variety of inspection activities across train projects and products across several UK sites, in line with their skills and experience. Duties include (training will be given where required):

  • Performing accurate day to day dimensional measuring and visual inspection of product to ensure Quality Standards are maintained in line with published drawings, quality control plans & inspection standards.
  • Leading and coordinating the in-process inspection regime for train manufacture throughout the production process, including final inspection of completed train cars at handover to Test & prior to delivery of the full completed train to the customer following completion of Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Support the Supplier Quality Control Engineer(s) in developing Factory Inspection Procedures & Standards using knowledge transferred from the HRI (Italy) Plant, Engineering Drawings, Specifications & Manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures & Control Plans.
  • Carryout visual weld inspections in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 17367, BS EN ISO 15085 and BS EN ISO 10042
  • Prepare detailed In-process inspection reports from joint setup or weld inspection activities undertaken.
  • Creation of inspection documentation & non-conformance documentation.
  • Carry out DPI inspections of welds when required in accordance with BS EN ISO 23277
  • Carry out UT inspection of welds when required in accordance with BS EN ISO 17640
  • Visually inspect and test quality paint finish to standards and detailed customer quality requirements
  • Verify Sample Swatches in line with paint pass off procedures & Control Colour Swatch Library
  • Monitor Paint Batch Control and recording, including Traceability
  • Check Vehicle surface preparation, degreasing, shot blasting, filler, primer sanding and topcoat application, & verify that all surfaces are in suitable conditions for painting (in accordance with ISO8501)
  • Prepare & maintain In-Process Quality Procedures & Checksheet Documentation under the instruction of the Process QA Engineer / QA Supervisor
  • Perform adhesion testing (in accordance with ISO2409)
  • Monitor Paint Thickness (in accordance with ISO2808
