JOB SUMMARY

The QHSE Director will be responsible for ensuring the proper application of quality, health, safety and environmental standards within the organization. This person will ensure that the company’s QHSE policy is followed and implement the necessary measures to ensure the proper functioning of activities and services. This role will also oversee all aspects of document management within the team’s processes and procedures.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, occupational health & safety, industrial engineering, or a comparable degree preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 10 - 15 years of Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental experience within the industry is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Basic understanding of laws and regulations regarding document management.
  • Thorough understanding quality control standards and methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct training and lead internal/external audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

QHSE REQUIREMENTS

Quality:

  • Take responsibility for the sustainability of Axens and ensuring quality performance
  • Report any and all quality related issues or non-conformities to your manager
  • Maintain awareness, proactively participate and support all Axens policies for quality management
  • Assist in the continual improvement of an effective Integrated Management System complying with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
  • Assist in achieving Site, Department, Regional and Global Quality Management Program goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
  • To promote and support a culture of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) in objectives for the business, by engaging with the operational teams, supporting and educating them on the importance and delivery of QHSE standards.
  • Improving performance through the monitoring and inspections of QHSE management systems and procedures at site level, including ISO 45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Will successfully drive a positive safety culture as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning team QHSE objectives, contract mobilization support, inspection/audits and QHSE training.
  • Facilitate and drive internal compliance and awareness of QHSE throughout the region, by ensuring that corporate and sector policy/procedures are adhered to and complied with.
  • Manage the Implementation of QHSE policy changes with document storage, sharing, transmission, and destruction.
  • Communicates and consults with other staff when assessing, acquiring, or deploying new electronic document management systems to ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption.
  • Carryout and/or support the regional operation teams in the completion of risk assessments and development of safe operating methods.
  • Ensuring QHSE reporting platforms for the region are updated, monitored, and maintained
  • Collect information to formalize monthly reports to drive continuous improvement.
  • Knowledgeable of all health and safety matters for the region, advising local teams, identifying, and responding to current legal and best practice requirements.
  • Work proactively with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility.
  • To support management in and/or lead investigations of occurrences, hazards etc. and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented and evidenced
  • Support in the Management of insurance claims, inclusive of ascertaining the occurrence through investigation reports
  • Liaise with HSE/local authorities as point of contact regarding incident/accident investigation as required.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and industry’s best practices.
  • Carryout and report on regular site inspection & audits to ensure compliance with policy/procedures
  • Carryout/assist in 2nd/ 3rd party assurance audits & oversee/support corrective actions with the responsible management team.
  • Point of contact for the region in ensuring QHSE requirements are identified and implemented for new contracts/mobilizations.
  • Plan practical and effective methods (both preventative and remedial) when promoting QHSE and safe working practices including risk assessment
  • Delivery of Management QHSE training as required
  • Delivery of Employee Safety Training as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
