JOB SUMMARY

We seek a highly motivated, ambitious proven individual who will create and grow through their direct efforts highly impactful startups based on Georgia Institute of Technology’s (Georgia Tech’s) ground-breaking research and intellectual property.

We are seeking talent with experience and knowledge in the following areas of expertise.

  • AI/ML-focused innovations; or
  • New materials, electronics and electronic devices, sensors and related hard-tech innovations.

Job Purpose: Serving within Quadrant-i of Georgia Tech, part of the Office of Commercialization, this position assists in the commercialization of technology innovations at Georgia Tech in key areas of product-market fit, business strategy, fundraising, team development and/or other related areas as needed. This position will identify and grow innovation, commercialization, and startup efforts based on Georgia Tech’s research and intellectual property in close coordination with the Director of Quadrant-i and the broader activities of the Chief Commercialization Officer.
Impact & Influence: This position reports directly to the Director of Quadrant-i. The position requires regular interaction with all members of Quadrant-i including the Director, the Chief Commercialization Officer, and Georgia Tech’s faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, this position may interact with constituents of the broader Atlanta area startup ecosystem, State of Georgia economic development officials, and national community of business leaders, angel investors, attorneys, and venture capitalists.

SKILLS/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Quadrant-i Principal, working solo and in conjunction with other Quadrant-i Principals, facilitating the translation of Georgia Tech research and technology by guiding the development of new ventures. and as strategic consultant (in business model development) for assigned Georgia Tech clients.
  • Track and identify promising innovations with potential for significant market and societal impact.
  • Manage the customer discovery process with commercialization stakeholders to identify market needs and business value propositions.
  • Support faculty and students in the acceleration of technology maturation.
  • Advise prospective founders and inventors on spin-out strategies.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships between prospective business advisors, business partners, investors, and management teams.
  • Support development of marketing materials and external pitch decks that highlight Georgia Tech’s distinction in relevant research areas, working closely with communications/marketing teams.
  • Direct and manage application process for accessing non-dilutive funding sources such as the NSF I-Corps program and Georgia Research Alliance Innovations & Entrepreneurship grants and loan programs.
  • Develop and support the delivery of entrepreneurial programs/events. Organize internal events to educate faculty on commercialization opportunities. Organize external facing activities and events to promote exchanges with potential funders.
  • Advocate for their clients for awards, conferences, and recognition.
  • Perform administrative tasks and other related duties as assigned.
