MOT TECHNICIAN/TESTER

We are looking for an additional MOT Tester for our busy garage based in Weymouth working with customers from across Weymouth and Portland.

Role
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out approved MOT vehicle inspections, rectifying faults, and preparing vehicle inspection reports. You may also be required to carry out general servicing and maintenance of fleet or private vehicles.
To ensure success as a MOT tester, you should have sound mechanical knowledge and experience with Class 4 MOT testing. A skilled MOT tester is a thorough professional with keen eye for detail and in-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. You should be thorough, a solid eye and attention to detail, reliable, honest, logical and motivated.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and completing work orders
• Conducting MOT tests according to Ministry standards.
• Observing car and truck service manuals.
• Advising clients on major repairs and services.
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
• Observing safety protocols at all times
• Conducting routine auto maintenance.
• Maintaining state health and safety work standards.
• Completing and presenting MOT test reports.
• Using workshop equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.

Requirements

• Key Skills (English/Maths) in education, certifications or experience is preferred
• IT literate and proven ability to use software systems.
• Detail oriented with good knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
• Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment
• Excellent active listening, problem-solving and communication skills
• Self-motivated, independent and reliable with a strong work ethic.
• Have a full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes you want to test.
• Be a skilled mechanic with at least four years of full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested.
• Have a Level 3 qualification () and Class 4 certificate (Level 2 MOT Tester).
• Be of “good repute” and have no unspent convictions for criminal offences.

As part of the current fleet management contracts we have, you will be required to hold a current DBS certificate.

Pay: £31,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
