Job Title: Lunchtime Assistant
Location: The Cheshire Day Nursery, Winwick
Hours: Part-time, 15-25 hours a Week

OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Lunchtime Assistant to join our friendly team at The Cheshire Day Nursery Winwick. This role involves working directly with the children, supporting their play and learning, and ensuring mealtimes are a positive and enjoyable part of their day. You will also be responsible for covering staff lunches and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience working with children (desirable but not essential — training will be provided).
  • A caring, patient, and approachable nature.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and use initiative.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities
  • Support and supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Serve and assist with children’s meals, encouraging healthy eating habits and good table manners.
  • Work alongside practitioners to engage children in play and learning activities before and after mealtimes.
  • Cover staff lunch breaks, maintaining appropriate ratios and high standards of care.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and hygiene procedures in line with nursery policies.
  • Help with tidying and cleaning dining areas before, during, and after lunch.
  • Build warm, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
