Special Education Teacher - Nuvviti School
We are looking for dedicated special education teachers to join our team. Ideal applicants will be passionate about working with primary and secondary students experiencing a variety of learning needs.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in special education, education or a specialization in a relevant field.
“Brevet d’enseignement”, teaching permit or provisional teaching permit valid in Quebec or equivalent in another Canadian province.
Masters in special education an asset.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS :

Proficiency in the teaching language (English, French or Inuktitut).

Responsibilities

Perform evaluations to determine students’ learning abilities and challenges.
Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on the results of these evaluations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Participate in the local special education committee.
Design and implement a differentiated instruction program tailored to students’ specific needs.
Employ various pedagogical methods and resources to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Work in close collaboration with parents, tutors and other teachers and support staff to ensure that effective communication and support are provided for each student.
Monitor students’ progress and personalize educational strategies to harmonize with their needs and promote student success.
Create and keep detailed, up-to-date records of students’ achievements and difficulties.
Stay informed about current trends, techniques and best practices in special education.
Take part in professional development events and training sessions.
