Description

Position Title: Qualification Engineer
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (dotted line to Quality Manager)

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Qualification Engineer to ensure customer specifications are met for FAIR and/or PPAP approvals, enabling smooth production launches. This role works closely with engineering, quality, and tooling teams to validate processes, make tooling adjustments, and deliver products that meet or exceed customer requirements.

CORE COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

  • Strong communication skills, including customer-facing interaction.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ERP systems, and customer portals.
  • Advanced knowledge of injection molding processes, mold functionality, and mold design.
  • Understanding of quality systems (IATF, ISO 13485, AS) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Expert in print reading and GD&T.
  • Skilled in using metrology tools such as vision systems, CMM, and other precision measurement devices.
  • Ability to interpret CMM and inspection data to recommend tooling or process changes.

Responsibilities
  • Review qualification requirements pre-PO; participate in customer discussions to recommend tolerances and specifications.
  • Develop or collaborate on qualification validation systems, including metrology systems.
  • Work with engineering and internal tooling teams to ensure requirements are met through tooling or process adjustments.
  • Perform final part validation and prepare/submit approval documents to customers.
