BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Project management or team leadership experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with ensuring environmental and safety compliance.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including basic familiarity with Fed OSHA and Cal OSHA standards.
  • Proficiency with enterprise resource management tools, preferably SAP and Teamcenter.
  • Ability to travel as needed (about 10%), including to other ULA sites, using standard commercial means.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, overtime, and variable 2nd or 3rd shifts to support vehicle processing and launch operations.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, occasionally at heights, on stairways, or around hazardous materials.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI is required. US Citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and personal transportation to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent aerospace experience with familiarity in government contract work
  • Experience supervising or leading represented employees under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Broad technical expertise in quality, safety, and environmental areas, including electrical, propulsion, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with launch site vehicle processing and Atlas launch vehicle products and processes
  • Greenbelt certified with active use of process improvement tools, including A3 reporting for investigations and corrective actions
  • Knowledge of injury and non-conformance investigations, and corrective action resolution
  • Working knowledge of CEQA, CARB, APCD, regional water board standards, and Base environmental/813 requirements
    Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Vandenberg AFB only): $94,710.00 - $175,890.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate’s experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.

Responsibilities

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Quality and Environmental Compliance Leader to join the team at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This individual will lead and manage the daily activities of the Launch Operations (LOPS) union hourly quality inspection workforce. Responsibilities include coordinating with operations and functional support organizations to achieve environmental compliance and both short- and long-term operational and business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage environmental programs at the Vandenberg site, ensuring full compliance with local, county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to quality inspectors across multiple sites and launch complexes.
  • Align team efforts with ULA’s mission to maintain 100% mission success, ensure personnel and hardware safety, and achieve critical milestones on schedule.
  • Enforce compliance with company programs, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements; manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Foster collaboration across the ULA enterprise to meet program goals and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Exemplify ULA’s core values and demonstrate a strong commitment to mission success.
