As part of their commitment to innovation, they are seeking a highly skilled Quality and Research Chemist to join their expanding team. This is an exciting, newly created role that will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of the company’s product development and quality initiatives.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director of Quality and Product Research, the Quality and Research Chemist will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance activities related to the manufacture, importation, and sale of Class I medical devices and Natural Health Products in North America and internationally. The role involves both theoretical and applied research in chemical and biochemical processes, contributing to the creation, modification, and synthesis of new products and processes in the medical and health fields.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a chemist with research development and quality assurance experience.
  • Experience in cosmetic or paint chemistry is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of FDA, Health Canada, CE Markings, and ISO standards is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management, organization, and task prioritization skills.
  • Solutions-driven with a focus on customer service and compliance.
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and data tracking tools.
Responsibilities
  • Lead research to develop innovative chemical formulations and processes, enhancing technical applications of industrial chemicals.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and characterize chemical or biochemical compounds to support product development and quality control.
  • Design and execute analytical programs to ensure quality assurance across raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
  • Collect and analyze samples to identify and quantify ingredients, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct R&D to discover, refine, and evaluate new products for medical devices, Natural Health Products, and non-prescription drugs.
  • Collaborate in the commercialization of new products, partnering with Quality, Sales, and Marketing teams.
  • Investigate chemical aspects of drug action, disease treatment, and health assessment.
  • Provide technical consultation and contribute to internal and external audits, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and track quality control data, generating reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support the Management Team in implementing and planning quality system strategies in line with ISO standards.
