THE COMPANY & APPOINTMENT

The Company is a UK based nutraceutical business specialising in the import and distribution of raw materials intended for the manufacture of food supplements.
A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and expanding nutraceutical business. You will be part of a team responsible for a wide range of Quality, office & laboratory-based duties.
The successful candidate will report to the Quality & Site Manager but also support a number of technical and commercial staff, both inside and outside the company. The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a Quality environment and would be desirable to have some understanding of basic laboratory practices. Your colleagues will support you to gain an understanding of the business and the markets in which it operates.
This is an office-based role with standard hours of 8am – 4pm.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Understand the importance of Food Safety principles
  • Knowledgeable in HACCP (recognised training is beneficial)
  • Experience in performing internal audits
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal
  • Organised and good attention to detail
  • Excellent time management
  • Able to work to deadlines and multitask
  • Able to deal with customers and visitors professionally
  • Happy to work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience with basic laboratory principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of nutrition
  • A full clean driving license

SUMMARY

Salary is dependent on individual qualification and experience but expected to start at £25 - £27k. Performance-based bonuses are paid annually at the business’s discretion.
Day to day work activities will be at the Belfield office in Ilkeston but some travel to customer and supplier premises maybe required.
A full clean driving license is desirable.
We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Therefore, we can only consider candidates who already have a valid right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and development of the Quality Management System (QMS), including BRCGS Storage & Distribution.
  • Write, update, and implement standard operating procedures, policies, and work instructions that reflect current practices and regulations.
  • Contribute actively to the HACCP team, helping maintain a strong food safety culture across the business.
  • Carry out internal audits, including hygiene and fabrication checks, and follow up on any corrective actions required.
  • Keep all quality records, documentation, and logs accurate, organised, and up to date.
  • Work directly with suppliers to investigate non-conformances, resolve Quality issues, and ensure they meet UK/EU regulations and ProTec Nutra standards.
  • Review and interpret external lab results to support product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage multiple Quality-related workstreams, maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Use Microsoft Office, especially Excel, to manage logs, prepare reports, and track Quality objectives.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers, both verbally and over email.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and proper aseptic techniques when sampling products for external testing.
  • Complete Supplier Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) for customers with accurate and relevant Quality and product information.
  • Support cross-departmental activities as needed, contributing to wider business operations when required.
