The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and managed network services to more than 1,200 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring, and conferencing services.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Analyst ensures the quality and functionality of software applications by designing and executing test cases, identifying bugs, and collaborating with technical and business teams to improve the product. They are primarily responsible for the testing phase of development, verifying that applications are functional, reliable, and meet user expectations. Depending on the project, they may work from business requirements or partners with Business Analysts and developers to define test cases. All test results are documented, and any issues are logged and assigned for resolution. Quality Assurance Analyst approval is required before a product can move to User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with the business owner.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) years of hands-on experience as a Quality Assurance Analyst and/or Specialist in IT, with progressively complex assignments OR bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience AND Two (2) years of systems analysis experience, including documentation, quality assurance, system integration, and user acceptance testing.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and job-specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience, and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

(Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience):

  • Mid-level knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall
  • Relevant QA or automation certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Selenium)
  • Experience working within a state government or public sector environment
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for project collaboration and tracking
  • Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
  • Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Selenium, Postman, JUnit, and load testing solutions
  • Background in performance, mobile, cloud, and security testing
Responsibilities
  • Serves as a project team member across multiple applications, acting as a subject matter expert on several projects.
  • Contribute to initiatives of moderate to high complexity within one or more development environments.
  • Collaborates closely with software developers and Business Analysts to ensure systems, whether new, modified, or purchased, defined business needs and quality standards.
  • Develops formal test plans and test cases. This includes writing, maintaining, and executing functional, regression, and integration test scripts based on requirements documentation. Should be proficient in both manual and automation test cases.
  • Identify procedures and scenarios for the quality control of products and services.
  • Process product reviews and inform the development team of defects and errors.
  • Communicate quantitative and qualitative findings from test results to the development team.
  • Creates, tracks, maintains, and verifies defects via a defect management system.
  • Ensure that the final product satisfies the product requirements and meets end-user expectations.
  • Utilizes the following testing methods:
    Exploratory.
    Verification/Validation.

Regression.

  • Spot areas for improvement to enhance the product’s efficiency.
  • Research the current market for similar products and compare results.
  • Participates in customer meetings as well as project team meetings.
  • Participates in project team meetings during multiple phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Communicates testing results to team members and stakeholders. Helps guide customers, maintain defect log, and answer questions during User Acceptance Testing.
  • With minimal direction, selects and effectively uses tools that support test plans and test processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
