Description:

SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance (QA) and Research Coordinator is tasked with developing, and supporting the implementation and the ongoing running of processes which support an organizational approach to quality, research, and development which enables a culture of continuous improvement and more effective outcomes for the Nimkee Nupigawagan Healing Centre (NNHC).
The QA and Research Coordinator supports assurance mechanisms, enabling insights for practitioners on the quality of their practice, so they can then apply continuous learning and improvement and to support NNHC in achieving the mandate and vision of the organization using an indigenous lens and indigenous evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A relevant qualification is preferred. This could be a quality and/or assurance related qualification or from a social sciences or indigenous-focused discipline.
· Experience of at least 1-2 years working within a research-oriented environment is preferred.
· A combination of education and experience will be considered, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in social work, indigenous studies. Successful candidate must be willing to undertake further training/education to attain credentialing.
· Fitness for work medical is required, including up-to-date vaccinations and TB test.
· Driver’s license and ability to travel within region.

EXPERIENCE:

· Experience of quality assurance principles and practices, and how to develop and implement in using a two-eyed seeing approach to research and development.
· Knowledge of legislation and codes of practice within which the NNHC operates and the ability to input into providing assurance through a systemic framework.
· Ability to analyze and evaluate the quality of practice and services.
· Lived experience as an indigenous person in Canada.

SKILLS:

Analytical Skills:
· Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills to assess information, identify trends, anomalies and problem areas.
· Experience working with key performance indicators and can apply and evaluate the results of metrics that measure process efficiency and effectiveness.
· Demonstrated numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
· Interpret information from multiple sources to articulate and identify issues.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
· Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clients.
· Well- developed communication skills to write sector wide, leadership and internal communication messages. To write technical reports, briefing notes, articles and oral presentations to various sized groups and to provide evidence and support collaboration.
Coordination and Computer Skills:
· Review research plans, estimate workloads and monitor project progress.
· Proficiency with computer software applications and conduct Internet searches, research, extract and analyze data, and generate information.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other data analysis tools.
· Experience manipulating data and presenting data/information in visually appealing way for leadership consumption.
· Ability to acquire knowledge regarding new software tools and apply learned skills.
Policy and Accreditation:
· Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy and procedural processes specifically for Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), Ministry of Child and Youth Services (MCYS) and Accreditation Council.
· Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and PIPEDA.

Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance
-Support quality assurance processes, with a focus on continuous improvement.
-Support and input into the design and development of new and enhanced approaches to quality assurance and improvement activity.
- Collect and analyze various sources of information and data to identify trends and patterns in practice quality and organizational performance.
- Ensure the Ministry’s and Accreditation body’s understanding of the quality of its practices and services is informed by the voices and feedback of indigenous people.
- Provide support to senior advisors. Work collaboratively with other people and in the team, taking collective responsibility for the performance of the group’s objectives, sharing of information and providing proactive support through review of electronic case noting system and development of new standards.
- Support the systematic and continuous improvement of practice and procedures at Nimkee.
-Use funding bodies Quality Standards Frameworks and develop Nimkee’s to acceptable standards using culture as a foundation.
Research and Development:
-Assists with the facilitation of all internal and external quality assurance audits; assists program staff in preparing for audits; assists with collaborating on the implementation of any corrective action as a result of quality standards and accreditation.
-Research best practices and write literature reviews, focusing on the infusion of indigeneity into our practice and standards.
-Participate in any Nimkee research studies with university partners and other agencies.
- Participates in any needed training, meeting, committee, and compliance groups on monthly or quarterly basis; facilitates quality assurance meetings, workshops, and committees in order to enhance documentation quality.
Client Service:
-Promotes the belief that quality practice is owned by the frontline and continuous improvement of the system is made through strong engagement and relationships with our clients and stakeholders.
- Possess a strong awareness of customer satisfaction through regular client and stakeholder objective measures where possible
- Deals effectively with feedback and quality related issues, liaising with the key leaders where appropriate.
Reporting:
-Support and provide input into quality reporting, and influence the standard of quality through reporting and insights.
-Write reports and presentations to assist the organization in reporting to general public and funding agencies.
-Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators and Strategic Direction and prepare comprehensive workplan.
-Be the team lead for Accreditation.
Risk Management:
-Identify risk areas impacting on practice and support mitigation strategies within NNHC, Ministry, and Accreditation Council risk framework.
Teamwork and Other:
- Actively and positively participate as a member of the team
- Proactively look for opportunities to improve the operations of NNHC
- Perform any other duties as needed by NNHC
- Comply with and support all health and safety policies, guidelines and initiatives
- Ensure all incidents, injuries and near misses are reported to Health and Safety.
- Adhere to all NNHC procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards of integrity and conduct
- Demonstrate a commitment all Indigenous people and ways of knowing, being, and doing and knowledges are incorporated these into work.
