QUALITY ASSURANCE AND TRAINING SPECIALIST

Location: Albany, PE (On-Site)
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 per year
Hours of Work: Fulltime (40 Hours per week), Monday to Friday

Job Description
Quality Assurance and Training Specialist works closely with quality assurance and operations teams in identifying training needs. Evaluates and establish SOP’s, policies, and procedures. Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, policies, procedures, and legislation. Quality Assurance and Training Specialist focuses on continuous improvement by researching best practices and applying research-based approaches and solutions to challenges in the quality department.
Responsibilities: Quality Assurance and Training Specialist is responsible for the following key areas.

QA/Sales:

  • Deal with customer complaints, supplier complaints and issues.
  • Conduct annual supplier evaluation
  • Create export paperwork and stamps
  • Manage Product freeze list
  • Conduct quality inspection of cuts, steaks, Japan export products as per the specifications
  • Review and upload customer specs
  • Complete daily quality paperwork

Training:

  • Trains new employees to comply with the methods of quality management systems and environment
  • Creates and administers training courses, which may include word, audio, visual training materials or in combination for trainings for employees on Alchemy
  • Design, maintain, and update all training modules, SOP’s, checklists, and inspection reports in Alchemy.
  • Conduct initial and refresher trainings for employees, supervisors, trainers, and management
  • Document and manage all training records in Alchemy.
  • Track and plan upcoming training as required.
  • Coordinate and assist with Quality Control, on-floor trainers, and department supervisors in delivering and implementing training.
  • Monitor and record employee errors/deviations that lead to refresher trainings
  • Monitor onboarding and development reviews

Compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Updates SOP’s when needed, verifying that Alchemy materials correspond with quality standards and regulations

Documentation:

  • Responsible for documentation and record keeping of all electronic records, which includes but not limited to training, employee signoff documentation, audit reports, checklists, inspection reports, etc., in Alchemy and in company database
  • Collect, verify, record keeping of everyday records. Daily tracking of missing or incorrect forms and filing of all records
  • Quarterly filing, both physical and electronic for safe record keeping of all forms and their tracking to corresponding dates
  • Manage document control for quality assurance team
  • Prepare necessary documentation for all training related to quality, and ensure that all training is completed
  • Conduct and manage regular worksite audits, checklists, and evaluations

Continuous Improvement & Research:

  • Experimenting and validating future processes and system changes
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of production capacity
  • Produce and analyze statistical data

Health and Safety

  • Conduct workplace safety inspections.
  • Coordinate occupational health and safety committee. Document meeting minutes and manager communications of OHS committee
  • Responsible for delivering first aid in the workplace as needed.
  • Identify hazards and bring to the attention of management
  • Training staff on first aid and health and safety
  • Manage first aid kits, eye wash stations, medical and health supplies for the company

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years Quality Control/Quality Assurance experience preferably in the meat industry or similar level of experience/education
  • University degree or college diploma in sciences, preferably chemistry, biology and/or equivalent experience
  • SQF Practitioner, knowledge of HACCP program, GMPs, and health and safety rules and regulations are an asset
  • Basic First Aid certification is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, training skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook, and computer applications
  • Work effectively in an environment where priorities change constantly with minimal supervision
  • Good GMP documentation skills
  • Good analytical and synthesis skills to participate in problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Excellent working knowledge of quality assurance principles, meat plant regulatory standards, including CFIA, GMP and HACCP
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem-solve with sound judgement

Working Conditions:

  • Our workplace is a meat processing facility that is an environment of multi-temperatures and varying levels of humidity. We convert live cattle into Federally Inspected beef products. Please be aware that is a condition of employment to work in all areas of the plant including the slaughter processing area, as equipment maintenance needs arise
