Description Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring the overall food safety and quality of goods produced in the plant, including compliance with company and customer specifications and governmental regulations. Collaboration with other departments is necessary to ensure the product is produced to the highest food safety and quality standard. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Preparing and verifying labels on manufacturing work orders. Ensuring that conditions and processes conform with food safety and quality standards throughout the production process. Inspecting individual packages on each line to ensure proper seals, codes, dates and the general appearance of packaging and products. Verifies the accuracy and condition of materials to be used in production such as bags, boxes, labels, and product. Enforcing GMP compliance standards and reporting related incidents to management. Assisting with reporting inventory needs related to PPE and cleaning/custodial supplies. Assisting with the verification of food safety, defense, quality and SQF documentation. Maintaining current food safety training requirements and certifications as required. Assisting with customer and company certification audits when required. Communicating quickly and effectively with production and management personnel. Assisting with the laboratory testing when needed as requested by the QA Manager. Using authority to put product on hold for further review by QA Manager. All staff must report any known food safety issues to supervisor. All staff has the authority to place on hold any products and/or equipment that do not meet Texas Star Nut and Food Co., Inc. food safety standards. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Requirements: One year of prior manufacturing experience, preferably in a food processing environment. High school diploma or equivalent, with secondary-level mathematics skills. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Proficiency in MS Office programs and production software applications. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and team interaction skills. Training in food safety and quality standards. Must be punctual and dependable. · Must be able to comply with all safety and cleanliness requirements Abilities Required: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk and climb; use hands and fingers to handle, grasp and feel; reach, push, and pull with hands and arms; talk, speak, hear, and see. Ability to climb ladders/steps and work on platforms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and cleaning/sanitizing chemicals.
