Essential Job Functions
- Ensure compliance with departmental standard operating procedures and AS9100 and ISO9001 procedures
- Manages Inspection, Lab, NDT, and the Ultrasonic department.
- Monitors employee schedules, overtime, work production, and morale
- Sets performance goals for each employee, reviews and assesses each employee against these goals
- Establishes training needs assessment and cross-training schedules
- Maintain existing quality management systems
- Identifies and resolves systemic quality problems occurring at production and process departments
- Manages the Material Review Board, internal/external audits, CAPA, document control, supplier performance review and quality record review.
- Reviews and approves finished product specifications and raw material specifications and master manufacturing and production batch records
- Improves quality assurance systems plant-wide to achieve zero defects through hands-on training, strong work ethic, and leadership by example.
- Monitors and enhances plant level quality performance metrics.
- Improve profitability through reduced internal scrap and customer returns
- Successfully interfaces with customers and prospects to improve quality
- Reviews quality documents as necessary for regulatory requirements or inspections
- Responsible for maintaining QA records associated with internal and external testing and all testing equipment in compliance, calibration and certification.
- Maintain certifications and existing quality management systems
- Creates, implements and updates standard operating procedures and quality assurance manuals
- Analyzes quality control test results and provides feedback to manufacturing / engineering dept.
- Reviews and works with QEs in preparation of weekly/monthly reports, prepares metrics and trends data to identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities
- Develop and publish the internal audit schedule, reviews and performs quality audits
- Additional functions as deemed necessary by the Director of Quality.
Physical Demands/ Conditions:
- Sit at computer, keying alpha and numeric data for 30% of the time and 70% on the shop floor
- Regularly lifts 10-20lbs and push light, bulky items on rolling cart
- Employee is required to be alert to detail and use caution around moving material
- While performing the duties of the job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, airborne particles and fumes
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance Management experience, in aerospace industry
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field or related field
- Or at the discretion of the hiring manager
Certifications/Licenses:
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, Quality Manager and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
