VIH Aerospace (VIHA), a global leader in Helicopter Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MMRO) is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager (QAM).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

VIHA is looking for a team-focused person to join our Quality Department. Reporting to our Director of Maintenance and our Manufacturing Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the fulfilment of the requirements of our Quality Assurance Program (QAP) as defined in our Maintenance Policy Maintenance and Manufacturing Manuals.
This is a full-time position based at the VIH Aerospace facility in Sidney, BC, Canada.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualify for acceptance by Transport Canada to hold this position.
  • Advanced knowledge of Transport Canada, FAA, EASA, ANAC, UK-CAA quality standards (CARs 561, 571 and 573).
  • Advanced understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Previous inspection experience in related discipline, in the aerospace industry, including practical knowledge of inspection techniques.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) for Maintenance and Manufacturing organizations.
  • High level of knowledge relating to manufacturing procedures and practices, helicopter maintenance, and production.
  • Demonstrated ability to act ethically and with professionalism in the face of adversity.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Initiative to start and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Strong collaborator and good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, other software knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • AME License rating preferred.
  • Quality Inspector Certification, CQI preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general computer skills is an asset
  • Good driving record, and a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Flexible working any shift and overtime as needed (including weekends).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency)
Responsibilities

The Duties of the QAM Include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and providing summary audit reports and annual management review per our QAP and CPM.
  • Performing internal audits in accordance with the annual internal schedule.
  • Reviewing and maintaining the QAP, to ensure that it complies with the current CARs requirements.
  • Reviewing the AMO Audit Checklist to ensure that it covers the entire scope of the AMO.
  • Conducting, managing, and reviewing all QA work, including the identification of immediate, short term, long term and follow-up corrective actions, and root cause analyses.
  • Assisting the DOM, by carrying out and/or supervising Quality Control functions with respect to maintenance tracking, technical records, aircraft documents, purchasing, shipping receiving, stores, etc.
  • Retaining all records associated to the quality assurance program.
  • Ensuring that all internally and externally manufactured aeronautical products meet required quality standards, company policies, applicable aviation regulations, and customer specifications.
  • Ensuring that all manufactured and purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, materials, and products conform to design and quality requirements, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of VIHA inspection processes.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the content of the VIHAs Quality Manuals (MPM, MQPM, etc.) Support the development and enhancement of these existing systems and policies.
  • Ensuring inspection tools and equipment are calibrated and maintained.
  • Maintaining records of inspections, test results, and report non-conformances (NCRs).
  • Working with production, engineering, and suppliers to improve quality.
  • Working in compliance with all administrative, health and safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in company policies..
  • Performing offsite supplier inspections for compliance, testing processes and procedures.
