JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Assurance Technician to join our food manufacturing clients dynamic team for a 2 month term with the potential to be extended. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or a College diploma within a related field. This position is primarily day-shift from 7am-3:30pm however may require some afternoon shift work from 3:30- midnight.

SKILLS

  • Completed a University degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or a College Diploma within a related field
  • Sound sensory abilities with all food types (sight, smell, taste and touch).
  • Ability to follow recipes, cooking preparation instructions and consume various foods (including animal, dairy and allergenic ingredients)
  • Experience with food laboratory equipment and testing methodology used for food manufacturing plants would be preferred
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with plant employees, department supervisors and/or managers, work independently, precisely and with initiative in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail with a compliance mindset
  • Have excellent English writing and reading skills
  • Have computer skills and experience in Microsoft 365, knowledge of SAP program would be beneficial
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to support Day, Afternoon Shifts with ability to work some overtime and weekends as required

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting and testing incoming ingredients, finished goods and packaging materials
  • All analysis will be completed according to approved methods utilizing an implemented SAP QM program for chemical, microbiological and sensory parameters
  • Complete QA checks on the production line and monitor production to ensure quality and food safety requirements
  • Responsible for completing allergen testing on finished products and/or swabbing lines
  • SupportFood Safety Programs by conduction environmental testing, sanitation validation, pre-requisite program monitoring tasks and record review
  • Report and record any production/ingredient/product deviations
  • Support the Food Safety Management and Quality Management Systems by participating and preparing internal and external audits
