We’re working with Swindon Borough Council to find a dedicated Quality Assurance Reviewing Officer (QARO) to join their committed and evolving team. This is an impactful role, designed to ensure children’s voices are heard, rights are upheld, and outcomes continue to improve.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a QARO, you’ll lead independent reviews for children in care, oversee child protection processes, and support fostering services — all with a firm focus on quality assurance and service improvement. You’ll be part of a team that champions children’s rights, family life, and strengths-based practice across all levels of need.
You’ll work closely with social workers, managers, families, and partner agencies, providing both challenge and support to ensure every child receives the best care and protection.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead statutory reviews for children in care, child protection cases, and foster carers
• Ensure safeguarding and care planning meet regulatory and best practice standards
• Provide high-quality, independent oversight of practice and decision-making
• Offer constructive challenge and support to improve outcomes across services
• Monitor performance, identify patterns, and contribute to service-wide learning
• Promote the Family Safeguarding model and champion children’s rights to a family life
• Work collaboratively with practitioners, partners, and families to support positive change
