Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor Department
Lab Schedule: Monday – Friday and some Saturdays as needed (08:00am to 4:30pm)
Report to: Director of Quality Assurance

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to play a pivotal role in day-to-day QA operations by ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of all incoming raw materials and finished products. As a working supervisor, this role has supervisory responsibilities for multiple QA Technicians and Leads as well as a responsibility to perform QA duties as needed. This position will report to the QA Director

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the QA department, guiding, delegating, and verifying work
  • Ensures effective employee relations by providing employee coaching and development and participates in making employment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Schedules staffing and resource needs for day-to-day production support, calibration, product traceability, product sampling, pre-operational inspections, and other special projects.
  • Training and development of Quality Assurance team to ensure full understanding of food safety and quality programs and department SOP’s. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in quality methods, equipment, standard operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Monitor and update existing SQF, SOP, and QA programs, procedures, and document control programs.
  • Assists with the implementation, auditing, and execution of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance policies and establishes performance standards, procedures, and audit controls. Compiles, analyzes, and communicates quality and food safety-related information.
  • Document and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives. Documents and implements inspection criteria and procedures. Ensures all quality and food safety programs are being followed on the floor by regularly auditing the production floor.
  • Monitor and support Tropos review, including all types of charts for verification and validation of SQF requirements.
  • Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing microbiological and environmental trends. * Manages departmental performance measures and provides regular progress reports to manager
  • Ensure that the company’s hold and release program is properly implemented, including placing defective raw material, WIP and finished goods on appropriate QA status, working with management team to ensure timely disposition of hold materials. Work with Operations and Maintenance on investigation and root cause analysis on customer and internal quality and food safety concerns or complaints and implement timely corrective and preventive actions. Responsible for other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • B.S. Degree preferred in microbiology, food science, or chemistry;. Minimum 7 years industry experience in food safety and quality areas. 2-3 years of leadership experience required.
  • Must know about Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Internal Auditing, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • HACCP and PCQI certification is a plus.

FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prioritize food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Hold self and others accountable to SQF food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
  • In the absence of Lead serves as back up to ensure all food safety, quality objectives and SQF system requirements are met.

Physical Requirements - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:

  • Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity:

    • 50% or more walking and 50% sitting/standing.


      • Frequent temperature variations in a plant and warehouse environment.


        • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. is required

        REQUIREMENTS

        • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Quality Management, Engineering, or Life Sciences.
        • Proven experience in a Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
        • Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, HACCP, CGMP, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
        • Experience conducting quality audits and implementing corrective actions based on findings.
        • Proficient in QA/QC methodologies and tools for effective analysis of quality metrics.
        • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
        • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
