Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW

As a Quality Assurance Technician II, you will be responsible for performing daily quality activities in the plant which includes but not limited to process audit, GMP audits, various in process or laboratory testing to ensure every ingredient and finished good meet product specifications. The Quality Technician II is responsible for identifying quality issues, reporting them to the appropriate person and initiating the corrective action process.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS A QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN II AT DAWN FOODS.

  • Monitors and inspects and tests the products in process or in the lab. Ensures the products meet all specifications. Records all information and reports any discrepancies.
  • Monitors and checks the calibration of measuring equipment and the operation of metal detectors to ensure proper operation. Reports any problems immediately.
  • Performs formula audits and process audits, documents audit results.
  • Monitors adherence to all food safety and quality programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices and the Food Safety Plan. Reports any problems to the appropriate Lead/Supervisor.
  • Assist in the investigation related to customer complaints
  • Performs environmental swabbing as per the schedule
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Assists in the investigation of out of compliance products

  • Must be able to work in an environment where various allergens, including, but not limited to nuts, are received as shipments, mixed in ingredients, used as toppings, or baked into product. This will fluctuate based on business need.
  • The QA Tech II will be expected to learn multiple positions within the QA tech role and rotate through those positions as needed by the plant.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • Temperature fluctuates with the season – colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
  • Working around heavy machinery – hearing protection required in production area
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy
