JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Technician                                                  DEPARTMENT: Quality   JOB SUMMARY: Performs quality assurance functions consisting of electrical testing and chemical analysis in addition to special technical assignments.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:   1. Is responsible for: * Understanding and following policies, procedures, and instructions. * Identifying and reporting product, process, and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel. * Controlling nonconforming products, containment of all suspect parts. * Supporting implementation of corrective/preventive and improvement actions. * Proper use of personal protective equipment when required. 2. Responsible for daily Housekeeping within the department and surrounding work area.  3. Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment where required. 4. Performs electoral tests such as Automotive, DC, GC, Scrubber, and AGM 5. Quality checks of cured plates. 6. Quality audits and first piece inspections of manufacturing processes.  7. Battery tear down analysis and documents results of Scrap batteries. Includes AGM autopsy. 8. Maintains flexibility to meet variable work hours for training, process evaluation and troubleshooting.  9. Data entry using excel/work to produce numerous quality reports.  10. Evaluates and reports accountability of shop batteries.  11. Performs incoming inspection on oxide shipments, truck receiving procedure, and oxide testing.  12. Performs basic calibration tasks.  13. Responsible for generating daily reports, emails, etc.  14. Be familiar with and complaint with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.    ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor.    DESIRABLE TRAITS: Ability to work independently; good communication and analytical skills.  Math and science background. Understanding of statistical process controls.     COMPETENCIES:  * Basic computer, data entry, and math skills * Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision and management  * Must be able to work within a team environment EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  * Must be 18 years of age * Experience with safety and environmental training  * 1 year of Factory/manufacturing experience  * Required to attend 12 hours of classroom training outside of Crown Battery  WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear.
