QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or B. Sc. in Food Science/ Technology or related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience with GMPs, SOPs and HACCP
  • One to three-years experience working in the food industry
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications)
  • Ability to work with other staff and management
  • Well organized and demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Self-starter with excellent project management skills

Responsibilities
  • Enforce on-going compliance with product safety and quality, customers and regulatory requirements e.g. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hygiene, labelling etc.
  • Assist in developing/ modifying food safety policies, procedures.
  • Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventative actions.
  • Perform critical control point checks and quality checks at various stages of the production process to ensure conformance to product specifications such as weight checks, metal detector checks
  • Assist with product complaints and non-conformance investigations. Participates in the root cause analysis and corrective action process as deemed necessary.
  • Collect samples for sensory evaluation and shelf-life testing.
  • Conduct pre-op inspections and changeover allergen verification and report deviations to production, sanitation and QA teams.
  • Identifies and responds to food safety and quality concerns throughout the plant-report to QA Manager in order to initiate nonconformance’s and/or corrective actions
  • Perform QA equipment calibration, pest control inspection, glass & brittle plastic inspection, light intensity check, plant cleanliness and report findings.
  • Immediately notify appropriate personnel of any issues directly affecting product quality to ensure that corrective actions are taken to meet our quality and food safety standards.
  • Hold all raw materials, WIP and finished products that fail to meet the established standards as per On Hold and Disposal Procedures and seek and finalize disposition on held items.
  • Perform audits of operation to identify areas for improvement in training, data collection and entry, report systems, and manufacturing.
  • Verifies all relevant quality assurance documentation.
  • Assist in employees training, customer complaint trend analysis, establishing relevant SOP’s.
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting of product quality and labeling issues.
  • Perform any new QA checks as required for new processes and or as assigned.
  • Communicate information to all required departments to support plant operations.
  • Request lab supplies purchase as needed.
  • Provide support for regulatory compliance as appropriate.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
