Position Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Department: Quality Assurance (Third Shift)
Pay Rate : $22.75/hr
Shift: 3rd Shift
Days: Sunday night/Monday morning – Thursday night/Friday morning from 11pm-7:30am
Position Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting and executing quality and food safety processes within the manufacturing plant. This role performs ingredient and product testing, monitors production processes, maintains lab equipment, and ensures compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all laboratory equipment with a thorough understanding of lab protocols and safety standards.
  • Collect and analyze samples of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods for quality attributes including, but not limited to: mycotoxins, moisture, protein, fat, density, water activity, shape, thickness, and diameter.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with defined quality and food safety standards. Promptly report and escalate deviations.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of food safety programs such as HACCP, GMPs, and prerequisite programs.
  • Support and report any concerns related to food safety and product quality to FSQA.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of lab instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Complete required documentation and reporting with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Collaborate closely with production, packaging, maintenance, and safety teams to maintain a seamless quality system across all plant operations.
  • Conduct regular GMP audits and reinforce Good Manufacturing Practices among team members.
  • Immediately report any concerns related to food safety or product quality to the FSQA Manager.
  • Take proactive action to identify and mitigate risks that may impact food quality or safety.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally for sampling and testing purposes.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and codes of conduct.
  • Be available for overtime and flexible scheduling as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Previous laboratory or quality control experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, manufacturing setting with exposure to raw ingredients and pet food products.
