Description

We’re currently undergoing recruitment for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our long-standing client in the Bala area.

  • 4 on, 4 off
  • 10:00 – 18:00
  • £13.29 per hour

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform routine checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished cakes to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • Monitor production lines to ensure cakes are produced according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and product specifications.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations (appearance, texture, taste, smell) to assess product quality.
  • Identify and document any defects or non-conformities, and work with production teams to address issues.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards within the production area.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
  • Verify that allergen control measures are in place and correctly implemented.
  • Conduct pH, moisture, temperature, and shelf-life tests to ensure product stability.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures and policies.
  • Ensure traceability by documenting batch numbers and production records.

Skills and requirements:

  • Experience in a quality assurance or quality control role in a food manufacturing environment (preferably bakery or confectionery).
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC, GMP, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Degree or certification in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with automated bakery production processes is desirable.
