Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Technician monitors and inspects Sofina Foods products, materials, equipment, and production facilities to comply with the plant’s Quality Assurance programs and specifications, to excel customer expectations and ensuring compliance with government regulations. Work Schedule: 2:30pm, Monday-Friday Key Accountabilities: Understand all Quality Assurance documents such as HACCP Plans, CCPs, pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures, GMPs and complete corresponding records. Perform Quality assurance checks and on-sites to ensure all procedures and records are followed/ completed appropriately; Assist operations in non-conformance and corrective action procedures as required; Maintain accurate records/documentation and assist operations in ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. Responsible for monitoring activities for all records in the facility on a routine basis and responsible for documentation control and organization of all Quality assurance documents. Assist Manager in providing records for Sofina, customer, audit or regulatory needs. Perform daily pre-shipment verification of products and CCPs; Train personnels at the plant (Production, shipping, maintenance etc) on all quality and food safety requirements; Participate in internal and external quality audits, operational reviews and projects, providing timely feedback to the Manager, Quality Assurance and Plant Management on quality issues, recommend corrective actions and preventative measures; Understand, operate and calibrate applicable equipment such as scales, thermometers, and other lab equipment. Conduct microbiological sampling and tests such as air sampling, listeria sampling, ATP/ TPC sampling, Aw sampling, shelf-life, etc. Assess and report results to ensure compliance to Sofina/ customer standards and government regulations; Accountable for participation in QA projects such as sample collection, root cause analysis, complaint investigations, data collection and trending, validation studies, new product launches etc with a goal of improved compliance and efficiencies; May assume the responsibilities of other QA roles on other shifts as required. Requirements: Certificate or Diploma in Food Science, Quality Assurance or a related discipline, with relevant food processing experience; Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing, food processing environment; Flexible working in different shifts to accommodate for vacation coverage in QA team. Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, Quality regulatory requirements and systems including GFSI standards; Strong understanding of manufacturing food processes; Proficient skill in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook); Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Hiring Range: CAD $51,000 - $63,000 Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 5.0% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions. Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity. This position is currently an active vacancy.
