Description

Due to our rapid growth, our success is directly dependent on attracting and retaining the best possible talent across our teams. To this end, we are posting for a strong Quality Assurance Technologist. The Quality Assurance Technologist monitors processes on their respective shift to ensure food safety and product quality standards are being met and takes necessary corrective actions when they are not. This role will be based in our Norwood, MA, manufacturing facility.
**Please note this opening is a 2nd shift role and the hours are Monday through Friday from 1:00pm - 10:00pm w/occasional Saturdays (a maximum of twice per month). In addition, this is not a QA Software role; and Biotech and Pharma QA experience do not align with this role”. Food Manufacturing experience is required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the quality assurance field.
  • Food Manufacturing industry knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor all HACCP requirements and regulations.
  • Monitor quality control of products and processing lines.
  • Monitor plant conditions and employee practices.
  • Conduct Food Safety Audit of plant wide performance
  • Participate in Food Safety and SQF systems, Pre-requisite Programs, and SSOPs assessments and re-assessments.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational inspections of the facility.
  • Micro and Chemical sampling collection/ preparation
  • Product quality data collecting
  • Work with USDA and FDA regulators when necessary.
  • Communicate with the Production and Maintenance staff during operation on a regular basis to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Monitor warehouse storage conditions and employee practices.
  • Pest Control monitoring
  • Assist in training employees in accordance with our training program on GMPs, HACCP and SQF
  • Troubleshooting and resolving food safety and product quality issues
  • Assist in training and coaching employees
  • Participate in the performance of daily product cutting
  • Perform sensory evaluation of products which is a critical component of the function (taste, smell, texture, and visual evaluation).
  • Work on cross-functional projects related to quality and compliance of new and existing products – with R&D, marketing, sales, maintenance, and Operations as needed.
  • Thermometer calibration
  • Monitor and verify Metal detection equipment is working effectively
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
