Description

The Quality Assurance Technologist ensures the quality of product and services provided by the company. This position is responsible for working with the QA Manager and the quality staff on key programs such as third-party audits, regulatory audits, customer audits, departmental goals and objectives (KPI’s), keeps current with quality assurance projects and key performance indicators, ensures continuity of key programs, and assumes role of primary SQF Practitioner in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control Inspections: Perform routine inspections of raw materials, production processes, and finished products to verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance Procedures: Assist the QA Manager in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures, protocols, and documentation to ensure consistent product quality and safety.
  • Testing and Analysis: Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of samples using standard methods and equipment to assess product quality, microbial safety, and shelf-life stability.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Investigate and document non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints, and collaborate with relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of quality assurance activities, test results, and compliance documentation. Prepare reports and communicate findings to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in quality assurance procedures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about food safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality assurance procedures, food safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Highschool diploma or GED, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance or food manufacturing, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Certifications such as SQF Practitioner, PCQI, or HACCP certification are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and possesses the ability to develop interdepartmental relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of food safety principles, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in conducting laboratory testing and analysis techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness and/or noise. Seasonal exposure to weather elements includes, but is not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
  • Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.
  • Position requires the ability to sitting frequently at a desk, walking around the office and plant; carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; reaching and kneeling on a daily basis.

$54,016.00 - $91,553.00
