CareHawk manufactures life safety systems for education, healthcare, corrections, and other vertical markets. our systems are primarily sold in North America through a group of independent authorized resellers. Our growing organization is looking for a Quality Assurance Tester for a full-time permanent position.
As a Research and Development team member, you will be responsible for testing hardware and software systems while adhering to standards. You work well in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment, yet can excel working independently and effectively. You have a track record of delivering high-quality test plans and software. You have excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. You are also well organized and have excellent communication skills. In addition, this role requires networking and computer management knowledge, utilizing networking hardware, configuring this hardware, and deploying new computer equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews requirements specifications for new products or product updates and provides feedback regarding effort and risk related to QA requirements and proposes alternatives where appropriate.
  • Review of detailed design specifications as needed to test for solution conformance
  • Advocates for the end-user with emphasis on usability and conformance with industry standards
  • Develops and documents test plans, identifying required equipment and software tools
  • Develop test cases for:

o Defined functional requirements
o Compliance with detailed design specifications
o Compliance with industry standards
o Negative testing and fault tolerance
o Boundary testing
o Performance testing

o Load/Capacity testing

  • Provides accurate effort estimates for each QA phase of a project and reviews and accepts project schedule
  • Executes test plans and employs random testing for stress testing, fringe cases, and “random user” issues

o Records test results
o Where possible, determine steps to reproduce a failure

o Reports on non-conformances using bug tracking software tools

  • Investigates bugs or defect reports from outside the department and adapts test plans appropriately
  • Develop test software and internal utilities as required
  • Reviews release documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Networking and IT Responsibilities:

o Review and configure the facility networks with a focus on cybersecurity
o Install, configure, monitor, and maintain hardware and software systems, and networking infrastructure.
o Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to servers, networking, applications, and devices.
o Assists with user training, answering user questions, and onboarding for new users
o When required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshooting associated end-user workstation software and networking software products

Qualifications:

  • Minimum College Diploma in related field or higher, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience with software testing
  • Strong commitment to quality
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a multi-functional team-based environment
  • Experience with Office 365 Admin support
  • Network certifications or related experience
  • 3 years’ related networking/PC administration experience

Other Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have these additional qualifications:

  • Experienced with Linux operating system and ability to configure for deployment (bash shell scripting, system knowledge, permissions)
  • College/University level courses on networking architecture or related field
  • Experienced with software user interface design and testing
  • Knowledge of XML and HTML
  • Certification with Cisco/Microsoft products
  • Network certifications or related experience
  • 3 years related networking/PC experience
