JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Customs Auditor to join our operations team. This role is responsible for auditing customs documentation filed daily by the Customer Service Representative (CSR) team to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistency with Canadian import laws. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HTS classification, a deep understanding of CBSA regulations, and working knowledge of Other Government Department (OGD) / Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • 5+ years experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or a similar auditing role.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian customs regulations, including HTS classification rules and CBSA D-Memos.
  • Familiarity with CARM and its functionalities and impact on import processes.
  • Experience working with OGD/PGA requirements and documentation.
  • Proficient in reviewing and interpreting import documents (CADs, invoices, B3, B2, permits, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • CCS designation (Certified Customs Specialist)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, customs software systems, and audit tracking tools.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily audits of customs entries and documentation submitted by the CSR team.
  • Verify the correct Importer of Record is used on each file.
  • Ensure all key elements on the CAD (Canada Customs Accounting Document) are accurate and compliant.
  • Validate proper use of HS Tariff Classification and ensure classification aligns with CBSA guidelines.
  • Review entries for compliance with Other Government Department (OGD) or Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including CFIA, Transport Canada, Health Canada, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable CBSA D-Memos and interpret guidance appropriately in audit reviews.
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) processes and its impact on entry auditing.
  • Document audit findings and work with internal teams to resolve errors, escalate concerns, and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Provide regular reporting on audit results and trends to identify training opportunities or procedural gaps.
  • Support internal compliance initiatives and assist in regulatory updates or internal training sessions.
