JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Chemist is responsible to proactively drive quality control through raw material qualification and for maintaining quality standards for manufacturing finished product. The Quality Chemist will support ITW Professional Automotive Products’ and ITW Global Brand’s automotive aftermarket performance products in quality manufacturing production, process improvements and new product development scale up. The Quality Chemist will support production and development to deliver quality product solutions while meeting customer expectations and company goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, chemistry preferred, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and analyzes quality related data to determine conformance of production material to specifications.
  • Serves as gatekeeper for approval to move forward at each stage of production, while responding appropriately to production priorities.
  • Performs troubleshooting of nonconforming manufacturing batches, while following the Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) process within the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Performs pertinent analytical or other quality testing, following predefined testing procedures and methods, using various laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Properly and accurately documents all results and/or observations per the QMS document control and record retention policies.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation.
  • Follow company security policies to protect all test data and company property.
  • Understand, follow and support all safety rules and procedures of the laboratory and the manufacturing site.
  • Daily schedule will mirror first shift production schedule.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS THAT COULD HELP YOU SUCCEED FURTHER IN THIS ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, chemistry preferred, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • One to two (1-2) years of combined work experience in a laboratory.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of ISO certified Quality Management System
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Broad understanding and application of statistics and risk assessment tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both verbal and written.
