JOB SUMMARY

  • Ensure the consistent quality of our production output. Conduct laboratory tests on incoming raw materials, in-process production samples, and final products before distribution.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform daily analysis of incoming raw materials and blends.

  • Analysis techniques include Specific Gravity, Refractive Index, Moisture Analysis, UV-Vis, and Gas Chromatography.
  • Assist in root cause investigation of non-conformances.
  • Aid in the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain all lab equipment, including daily calibrations.
  • Modify, improve, and validate analytical procedures to meet QC’s needs.
  • Enter analytical results into the Laboratory Information Management system.
  • Assist with production activities as they relate to quality.
  • Initiate new policies and procedures to meet the demands of increased production and faster turnaround times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: BS science degree (Chemistry or Food Science preferred); MS degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in a chemical lab setting, background in QA/QC.


    • Familiarity with Food Safety (FSMA) requirements & SQF Standard is preferable

    SKILLS

    • Fluent in English, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of quality procedures and SOPs
    • Good time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Handles deadlines flexibly and positively.
    • Must exercise good judgement and professionalism.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Sitting and/or alternating sitting and standing at will.
    • Keyboarding. Entering text or data into a computer using a traditional keyboard.
    • Speaking. Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
    • Hearing Requirements. The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.
    • Near Visual Acuity. Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., use of computers.
