JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time position for a Quality Control/Inspector for our Quality department at our Shelburne, ON location. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Quality Control Associate/ Inspector to join our team in the produce industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all products meet company quality standards, industry regulations, and customer specifications. This role requires strict adherence to quality control policies, detailed inspections, testing of products, identification and reporting of defects to maintain high standard of quality produce

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Produce Quality Control is a definite asset
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, flexibility, and adaptability are essential.
  • Intermediate MS Office (Excel, Outlook) Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Working with minimal supervision in a team environment; mainly independent work.
  • Knowledge of fresh produce standards, grading, and common defects is an asset.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Inspecting, recording, and reporting the quality of all incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Checking and recording produce specifications, such as size, weight, width, length, colour, and any imperfections
  • Document observations during quality checks and complete reports based on observations
  • Identify and communicate findings in a timely and informative manner
  • Maintaining an open line of communication with line supervisors and management
  • Ensure product compliance meets legal and quality standards
  • Working alongside Shipping, Receiving, and Operations to influence decision making and plan production
  • Oversee grading activities to ensure accurate grading of produce according to company standards
  • Assess the quality and condition of returned items, identifying defects, spoilage, or non-compliance with product standards
  • Train new team members on inspection standards, food safety practices, and proper grading procedures
  • Provide hands-on support with inspections and sorting during high-volume periods.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality control processes
