JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a physically capable and detail-oriented Quality Control Associate to join our team in the cooler warehouse environment of the produce industry. The successful candidate will split duties between hands-on warehouse inspections (including heavy lifting) and administrative quality control tasks. This role ensures all products meet company quality standards, industry regulations, and customer specifications through on-the-floor inspections, cold storage monitoring, and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse QC, cold storage, or produce inspection (preferred)
  • Retail produce experience preferred
  • Ability to work in cold environments for long shifts and perform repetitive lifting (up to 50lbs)
  • Knowledge of QC methodologies and best practices
  • Experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and the stamina to handle physical and administrative tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and maintain quality metrics and conduct audits

Responsibilities
  • Work in a refrigerated/cooler warehouse environment for extended periods
  • Ensure compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and CFIA regulations while working on the warehouse floor
  • Physically inspect all inbound produce to make sure they meet quality standards & specifications set by company, CFIA, USDA and customers
  • Conduct manual visual, measurement, on produce in cold storage to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Operate pallet jacks or other warehouse equipment as needed (training provided)
  • Alternate between warehouse tasks (sorting, labeling, stacking) and desk duties (data entry, reporting)
  • Communicate findings and inspection results to relevant teams both verbally and in written reports
  • Calling-in & assisting CFIA, 3rd party joint inspections in sampling & inspection as needed in cold storage areas
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection results
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance quality control effectiveness
  • Support workflow processes for receiving and shipping functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
