REQUIREMENTS

  • To ensure that all laboratory work is carried out with due regard to Health, Safety & Environment guidelines.
  • To ensure that raw material, intermediates and finished products are tested as required by the site Quality system.
  • To ensure that samples of intermediates and finished products are retained and recorded as required.
  • To ensure that correct records of all analytical results are retained.
  • To give instructions to Operators during batch processing based on analytical results
  • To help develop new analytical techniques and adapt techniques from other entities to allow analysis of products on Halifax equipment.
  • To maintain specialist analytical equipment, (HPLC,GC, IC and related technical computer equipment)
  • To carry out on the job training of Shift Operators in the techniques used for in-process testing.
  • To input analysis data into IT system as required
  • To carry out any other reasonable request.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • As a minimum you will be qualified to degree level, with practical in Industry experience. Appropriate post graduate qualification may be advantageous.
  • Proven numerical and problem solving skills and the ability to develop analytical methods that satisfy internal, customer and legislation requirements
  • Good time management and flexibility are vital in reacting to immediate production issues while also satisfying longer term project work
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Experience of working in a Chemical COMAH plant environment desirable.
  • Awareness of handling Dangerous Chemicals
  • Must be able to follow procedures and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be IT literate, with experience of using ERP systems
  • Must be able to work as part of a team, and independently
    Working hours 6am to 2.30 pm, 2pm to 10pm - alternating weekly, plus one Saturday per month.
Responsibilities

Operating with demanding Quality Standards, the role is working within a manufacturing environment to provide an analytical service to the site to determine that finished products meet customer requirements and advise on adjustments for non-conforming products required to improve first time pass rates. To assist with analysis of new processes. To maintain analytical equipment on a ‘first response’ basis and perform equipment calibration and maintain records.
