This role is to be based in the Hereford region and surrounding areas however we would also welcome flexible working.
Role Purpose:
- To support Balfour Beatty delivery projects in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice.
- To ensure implementation of procedures including submissions from the supply chain and to assure supply of materials meet client requirements and are right first time, ensuring a defect free delivery.
What you’ll be doing
As a Quality Control Engineer, you’ll have the following accountabilities:
- Attend factory acceptance tests and conduct inspections at suppliers and ensure that all requirements are fulfilled.
- Produce Manufacturing Assurance Plans to manage risk-based intervention activities within the supply chain.
- Generate and maintain records of Factory Acceptance Tests/Inspections.
- Identify and control non-conforming material and raise non-conformance reports as necessary.
- Assist with investigation of root cause to ensure that suitable corrective actions plans are developed.
- Collate final quality records for the handover of assets to client.
- Support establishment of a continuous improvement culture.
- Ensure that all work practices comply with PT&D legal and statutory requirements relating to health and safety.
- Undertake other duties as required.
- Challenge existing systems and processes ensuring best practice and continual improvement.
- Contribute to the delivery of a continuous improvement culture.

Who we’re looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- A full UK Driving Licence
- Ability and willingness to travel and work throughout the UK and overseas.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills
- Observant and high levels of attention to detail.
- Good report writing and numeracy skills.
- Good IT skills (knowledge of MS Office 365)
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical testing of products.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and process controls
- Professional Quality Qualifications
- Experience in attending, or carrying out, Factory Acceptance Testing
- Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems
