Job Title: Quality Control Inspector 1st Shift (6:00am - 2:15pm)
Department: Quality
Accountability: This Position Reports to the Director of Quality and Research

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections required to support factory production, including but not limited to first-pieces, incoming production materials, incoming samples, prototypes, in-process materials, finished goods, outgoing materials, and resource-specific production audits.
  • Provide front-line support to production in determining acceptance/rejection criteria and with general quality-related issues and questions.
  • Support investigations into quality issues, including locating, quarantining, and sorting suspect materials.
  • For all inspections and inquiries, as applicable:
  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, and work for conformance to specifications using appropriate instruments, including measuring dimensions using instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Analyze test data and make computations necessary to determine results.
  • Record inspection or test data, including marking items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Reject products and materials not meeting specifications, and assist in creating MRRs, CAPAs, and engineering change requests.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, recommend necessary corrective actions, and follow-up as needed for open corrective actions.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Perform calibrations as directed.
  • Perform and/or participate in internal and external ISO audits as directed.
  • Perform and/or assist in training personnel as directed.
  • Keep records as required regarding corrective actions, inspection results, calibration records, engineering changes due to nonconformances, and related items.
  • Other related tasks as directed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical Certification, a plus
  • Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations both one-on-one and in meetings
  • Experience using calipers, gauges, and related inspection equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production documents, and engineering drawings
  • Must be detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record keeping skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate professionally both inside and outside of the company by email and phone
  • Corrected 20/20 vision
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting and standing
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • General knowledge of workplace safety, a plus
