Description JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing quality control inspections, checks, and tests during the manufacturing of Excelta products. This includes inspecting materials, parts, sub-contractor work and products at different stages of production, recording observations either on paper or in digital format, and making recommendations for improving processes. The Quality Inspector ultimately ensures adherence to standards of strength, quality, and endurance of our products and Excelta’s commitment to excellence. DIRECT REPORTS & KEY COLLABORATORS Direct Reports, if any: None Key Collaborators: Warehouse staff Manufacturing staff Purchasing KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to documented inspection criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements. Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required. Conduct and document process and system audits using and maintaining written procedures as audit standards. Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing. Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner. Help coordinate calibration of all metrology equipment. Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration. Participate in the construction and/or revision of SOP’s for the inspection function. Initiate the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocol and checklists. Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to Manager. Collaborate with Production Management to communicate and address quality concerns, issues, or emerging trends. Perform reviews of historical records and other documentation for compliance to established procedures and documentation practices. Other duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES High School diploma required; Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field strongly preferred. At least one year of quality experience within production environment and/or manufacturing industry strongly preferred Prior Mechanical Inspection and ISO Experience preferred Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills are required Working knowledge of measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, optical instruments/tools and surface plate inspection) required Knowledge of various coatings, heat treat operations, NDT, castings, surface finishes desired Ability to work with little supervision and in various inspection areas with willingness to perform other tasks as needed. Physical Demands | Work Environment | Tools Work Location: 100% onsite Work Schedule: 40 hours / week Physical Conditions of Employment: Sitting, standing and/or walking 80-90% time Kneel, crouch, reach, climb, walk, constant use of hands Ability to work on feet for long hours Speak, read, write in English Constant use of computer, keyboard and mouse Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Tools Utilized: Personal computer and software systems such as ERP SysPro, Microsoft Office suite, etc. Standard office equipment: telephone, copier/scanner, and others as required. Environmental Conditions of employment: The work environment is a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment where there may be exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and manufacturing equipment.
