Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Lab Technician to join our Food Safety & Quality Assurance team on a continental shift schedule. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining product quality and safety through lab-based testing, equipment calibration, and cross-functional collaboration with production and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct analytical and sensory testing of production batches and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment; run lab proficiency samples to validate testing accuracy.
- Analyze test data, flag irregularities, and report any anomalies to the Lab Supervisor.
- Communicate with laboratory suppliers to coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance or troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Support scientific investigations by performing routine technical tasks and laboratory experiments.
- Identify and escalate quality or compliance concerns to the Lab team; monitor and document follow-up actions as required.
- Assist in troubleshooting and supporting continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Maintain lab organization and cleanliness; manage inventory and order supplies while ensuring a safe work environment.
- Collect testing and retention samples during the manufacturing process.
- Investigate batching non-conformances and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Provide technical support in resolving quality-related issues related to product innovation and manufacturing.
- Comply with Health & Safety policies, report potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the QC Lab Supervisor and/or FSQA Manager.
THOUGH NOT REQUIRED, IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:
- Established continuous improvement food safety management systems such as GFSI, FSSC 22000, BRC, or SQF
- ISO 17025 and/or ISO 9001 requirements
- Sensory training or sensory panel management
- Good handling of microscope, knowledge in cell count, PCR, and yeast propagation.
- Analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis in areas such as GC, HPLC, or distillation, with experience in sample preparation and analysis
- Statistical analysis, data mining, or data visualization techniques on complex datasets

Our FSCC 22000, Organic, Gluten-free and soon Kosher certified facility is state-of-the-art, with an open concept brewery, fully automated brewhouse for production, while our 20hl pilot brewing system can be utilized for recipe development, one-off brews, and smaller batches’, seasonal beers and small scale packaging, including all can formats and party keg filling. In 2022 we invested in state-of-the-art packaging equipment from Krones and filling at speeds of up to 1100 cpm.
