Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Control Lab Technician Level 1 is responsible for testing all composite and cast-iron material as well as releasing the lab results (pass or fail) to manufacturing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Quality Control Lab Technician Level 1 is accountable for the following functions and responsibilities: Routine testing and work under close supervision for non-routine testing. Meet productivity goals/targets on a per shift basis. Record and report testing results and assist in test evaluation. Coordinate daily activities with supervisor or other team members to accommodate adjustments to task priorities, changes in laboratory equipment, test procedures, and raw materials. Recognize when test results are not meeting expectations and notify supervisor. Accurately input test results into database Hardness testing on post induction hardened cast iron and raw cast iron material Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The Quality Control Lab Technician Level 1 must at a minimum possess the following: Current student or holder of an associate degree in Science in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. In lieu of an associate degree, a high school diploma or GED equivalent with two years working experience as a lab technician, material testing technician, Quality Control, or data analysis/entry related position is preferred. Experience in/knowledge of working with thick section composites is preferred. Experience in/knowledge of safely working with chemicals is preferred. Experience writing and maintaining Material and Process Specifications as well as planning and executing material allowable generation programs and developing is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently is preferred. Ability to perform intermediate to advanced computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to liaise professionally with team members and system users. Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Quality Control Lab Technician Level 1 must be able to: Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, and copier/printer/scanning machine. Lift 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs with assistance. Wear appropriate PPE when required (i.e., safety glasses or side shields, steel-toe footwear, etc.). Sit or stand for long periods of time; up to 8-10 hours a day.
