Responsibilities Manage local and remote teams of fresh produce Quality Control inspectors to include hiring, performing periodic evaluations, training, discipline, work efficiency, and ensuring accuracy of work. Become familiar with each customer’s quality requirements and assist with allocating acceptable products to customer orders. Maintain work schedules for each active warehouse or farm location to ensure adequate numbers of qualified personnel are available to perform timely, accurate, and cost-effective inspections. Evaluate and implement data collection and reporting platforms, best practices for testing methods, and ascertain appropriate instruments and supplies. Constantly monitor productivity and efficiency of each defined KPI. Communicate issues as well as offering improvements as needed. Provides feedback and corrective action in financial meetings. Maintain accurate and effective departmental SOP’s and ensure they are followed. Manage relationships with 3rd party QC inspection services when utilized. Ensure operations are performed within all regulatory guidelines for personnel safety, food safety, organic program regulations, and customer required compliance. Supports team members to maintain good morale. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be passionate about fresh produce; four to five years’ experience with berries preferred. General understanding of Food Safety programs such as good practices related to GAP’s, GMP’s, HACCP, etc., preferred. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills. Team player who possesses a sense of priority and works well alongside other departments. Must be well organized with excellent attention to detail. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Ability to work and manage teams during nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Periodic short-term travel may be required. Physical Demands Must be willing to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment (34 °F). Required to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed. May engage in frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, and squatting to complete assigned tasks.
