At Hartung Glass Industries, our Quality Control team makes sure every piece of glass meets the highest standards before it reaches our customers. The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the plant’s quality management system (QMS) to ensure all fabricated glass products meet customer specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role leads quality assurance and quality control activities across cutting, tempering, laminating, insulating glass (IG) unit assembly, edging, coating, packaging, and shipping operations. The Quality Manager partners closely with production, maintenance, purchasing, and customer service teams to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects, and maintain compliance with industry standards Develop, implement, and maintain a documented QMS aligned with ISO 9001 Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection plans, and work instructions for all fabrication processes. Process Control & Product Inspection Ensure corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes are effective and completed on schedule. Maintain documentation supporting product traceability and certification labeling Investigate customer complaints, field failures, and warranty claims Implement containment, corrective action, and preventive action plans. Track complaint trends and implement systemic improvements. Lead cross-functional quality improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and returns. Facilitate lean manufacturing and waste reduction initiatives related to quality losses. Train employees on inspection methods, defect identification, and quality standards. Promote a culture of quality ownership across all departments. Conduct internal audits and present quality performance to plant leadership Requirements Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years experience in manufacturing quality management (glass, construction materials, or metals). GLASS EXPERIENCE HIGHLY PREFERRED Strong knowledge of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, optical measurement, gauges, templates). Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action systems. Familiarity with ISO-based quality systems. Ability to read technical drawings, tolerances, and fabrication specifications. Strong analytical and communication skills Experience in architectural or safety glass fabrication processes (tempering, laminating, IGU production). Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher). Experience with ERP/MES systems and data analysis tools. Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
