Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, expertise, and support to Quality Control (QC) staff to ensure QC tests and procedures are aligned with legal requirements, regulatory, global, internal guidelines, and quality representations on all activities and topics involving QC testing and stability studies.
- Plan, organize, direct, control & evaluate daily QC operations to ensure conformity with clients’ specifications.
- Ensure testing and release services are provided to the production department in support of established schedules.
- Establish departmental and laboratory objectives to align with site metrics and goals for safety, quality, productivity, cost, and continuous improvement.
- Interface with Product Development & Manufacturing Technology to ensure assays are validated to current GMP standards.
- Liaise and maintain strong links with other departments (Production, Maintenance, Customer Service).
- Ensure sustainability of the Quality Management System.
- Create and revise prerequisites programs as necessary according to standards.
- Update existing HACCP program as needed, maintain compliance with CFIA regulatory requirements & new production processes.
- Interact and collaborate with CFIA inspectors, operations, maintenance, sanitation, line employees, QA manager and supervisors to resolve food safety issues.
- Assist in production of various project plans for all phases, activities, and tasks necessary for successful implementation, ensure projects are within scope, time, and cost from Quality Control perspective.
- Provide stakeholders reliable information, communications, reporting and management updates.
- Direct quality control inspections, track corrective actions implementations, measure results.
- Participate in developing equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines.
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Compliance with the Company’s Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Other duties as assigned.
