JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Control Officer (QCO) is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and compliance across all group homes and the agency’s drive program. This role oversees the quality of service delivery, adherence to regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of operational practices. The QCO will conduct regular audits, inspections, and staff training to ensure that all programs provide safe, supportive, and person-centered care for children, youth, and families.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of group homes and the drive program to ensure compliance with agency policies, licensing standards, and government regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate documentation, including case notes, incident reports, medication administration, and transportation logs.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols, vehicle maintenance, and staff certifications for the drive program are current and properly documented.
  • Identify gaps, risks, or non-compliance issues and create corrective action plans. Program Oversight
  • Observe and assess daily operations, interactions, and routines within group homes to ensure they meet agency expectations and standards of care.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the drive program, including safe transport, route planning, vehicle condition, and staff conduct.
  • Provide feedback to program managers and team leads to enhance service delivery and resident outcomes.

Staff Support & Training

  • Mentor and coach staff to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Develop and facilitate training sessions related to quality improvement, health and safety, crisis prevention, and transportation protocols.
  • Support staff in implementing individualized care plans, behavioral strategies, and transportation guidelines.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, trends, and recommendations for management review.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of inspections, follow-ups, and corrective actions.
  • Provide timely feedback to program directors and contribute to annual quality improvement plans.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in group care, residential programs, or quality assurance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of licensing standards, child protection legislation, and safety regulations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 4 or equivalent preferred for drive program oversight).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, travel between sites, and adapt to changing priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Regular travel between group home sites and transportation hubs.
