Description NEW PLANT STARTUP General Description: This position is a senior technician responsible for ensuring products are manufactured, inspected, and tested according to company procedures, often involving training, coordinating quality activities, and troubleshooting issues. Responsibilities: Actively participate in stopping and correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors. Demonstrate daily evidence of continuous improvement efforts of 5S and autonomous maintenance. Treat quality as a key pillar of our success by always Doing the right thing for our customers. Solve problems daily by working together as an engaged team member Help in the relief of breaks as needed Maintain records and documentation Determines product quality disposition by reviewing, interpreting, and communicating QC laboratory results and system batching data. Responsible for all QC activities related to incoming raw materials and final products. Responsible for training laboratory all QC Laboratory Staff, Interns, and appropriate R&D staff. Act as a liaison between management, production, and R&D Responsible for understanding, interpreting, and staying current with applicable ANSI, ASTM standards, and scientific literature to support formulation development Troubleshoot testing issues, equipment failures, and out of specification results to determine root cause and corrective actions. Research and order equipment and supplies to equip and maintain the QC lab to improve efficiency and testing accuracy. Organize and chair QC Testing Meetings with R&D and Production. Oversee, and when needed, back up QC Tech for testing incoming and final product samples in a timely manner as to allow production to run efficiently. Oversee, maintain, calibrate, and standardize equipment according to the needs of the lab. Travel to vendor laboratories to learn methods to adapt for use in the Schluter QC Lab Oversee and conduct method development studies for new tests and equipment. Develop spreadsheets to collect and interpret data for current and new tests. Develop and update Device Description and Test Method SOPs and Data Collection Forms for equipment and laboratory tests. Work with technical engineers to help support R&D efforts Write reports for monthly OEE, quarterly trending, and R&D Formulation Development. Ensure incoming raw materials meet requirements listed in the vendor CoAs by comparing test results to tolerance limits set by the manufacturer. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment by properly identifying and storing ingredients, supplies and products as directed. Other projects and tasks as assigned. Requirements Experience: 4-year technical degree QA/QC Experience required QC Laboratory planning and development experience Above average Computer Competency (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point, and Lotus Notes) Advanced Technical Writing experience Team Player works well with others. Ability to train QC employees. Good communicator verbally and in writing Maintains resolve during conflict management. Detail oriented and well organized Available to work different shifts and overtime as required. Education: 4-year technical degree or 2 year degree and applicable experience Physical Requirement: This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently lifting less than 10.
