  • Evening shift will be 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM but some flexibility is required depending on production demand.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for laboratory quality control testing on raw materials, in-process products and finished products including but not limited to the chemical and sensory testing as well as all the quality control programs in the manufacturing and warehouse areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects product samples from production line and storage areas throughout the facility.
  • When necessary, puts in quarantine the product to ensure that the Food Safety or Quality is not compromised.
  • Conducts environmental sampling and analyze data, communicate to responsible department(s) any deviation, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Conducts trend analysis, root cause, preventive actions and corrective actions of assigned prerequisite and quality programs.
  • Conducts statistical process control to ensure all measurable parameters are under control and compliant with the specification and requirement.
  • Monitors and documents the line quality parameters and ensure work in process and finished product meets the standards.
  • Ensures proper lab equipment calibration per specifications/frequency.
  • Ensures accurate data entry in Unipoint software by reviewing and verifying all quality control tests and internal calibration results, to ensure compliance with ingredients, equipment, in-process products and finished product specifications.
  • Enters test result and data into the laboratory database, forms and documents; verifies the accuracy of data entered.
  • Performs quality control and inspection reports with a high level of accuracy and reliability.
  • Conducts organoleptic evaluations (taste, colour, etc.) as per customer or company specifications.
  • Completes daily paperwork and verification.
  • Checks and monitor the finished product, labels, weights, product count and packaging.
  • Performs onsite checks on processing lines to ensure compliance with product and process specifications.
  • Reports defects, food quality and food safety issues to Production Supervisor and/or Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Adheres to Good Laboratory Practice, including maintaining a clean and tidy laboratory.
  • Actively participates in W.T. Lynch foods internal audit program
  • Assists with the maintenance of QA monitoring programs.
  • Promotes and advocates quality assurance and food safety across the organization.
  • Reviews and updates production specifications and finished goods specifications as required, as well as Unipoint.
  • Assists the department during the customer or 3rd party audits on assigned tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
