Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Quality Controller to ensure our products and services consistently meet customer expectations and our internal quality objectives.
You will oversee all aspects of manufacturing compliance, with a particular focus on welding quality, dimensional accuracy, and full documentation traceability under EN 1090 requirements. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect components fabricated internally and by approved subcontractors to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Perform in-process, final, and goods-in inspections, including weld visual inspections, dimensional checks, and surface finish assessments.
  • Oversee welding quality to ensure compliance with relevant standards such as BS EN ISO 5817, ISO 3834-2, ISO 9606-1, and client-specific requirements.
  • Validate that all welding and fabrication activities are appropriately controlled and documented, including:
  • Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Welder Qualifications
  • Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Weld Maps
  • Material certifications and traceability records
  • Utilise precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and tapes to check dimensions and tolerances.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds, identifying non-conformities and recording findings accurately.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret inspection data to identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with production teams to resolve quality issues promptly and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external audits by clients and certification bodies (e.g., ISO 9001, EN 1090 assessments).
  • Contribute to project-specific quality documentation packages and lifetime records.
  • Question the nature of defects, propose corrective measures, and recommend process improvements.
