KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Third Level Degree in Science or equivalent (preferable)
  • Quality experience – 6 months or more
  • Industry Lab experience in the Dairy and or Food & Beverage sector;
  • Highly skilled in troubleshooting, fault finding & root cause analysis on plant/process issues;
  • Good working knowledge of GMP best practices;
  • Experience operating within, and delivering on, the highest quality standards in the manufacturing sector;
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team.

Responsibilities

ROLE PROFILE:

Based on the Tirlán Monaghan UHT Dairy Processing Plant, the role reports to the Quality Operations Manager. The role will support the onsite and third party Lab testing of a range of high quality in process and finished milk products. This role is required to work on a shift basis, and will be on a fixed term basis, until end of May 2026

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the efficient sampling and testing of designated raw materials, intermediates and finished goods in accordance with defined test schedules;
  • Ensure an effective system is in place for managing all samples and standards in line with agreed test/sampling plan;
  • Co-ordinate the dispatch of samples to the appropriate 3rd party labs within agreed timelines. Manage the results generated in these labs in accordance with agreed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Drive improvements in GMP and GDP on site;
  • Release product from SAP as required;
  • Complete compliance checks on hygiene and labelling at defines intervals;
  • Liaise with production staff, Quality Operations Manager / Site Quality Head with regard to QC status of products;
  • Ensure QC data trends are updated and displayed and that all plant personnel are aware of the quality status of the product and process;
  • Constantly drive improvements regarding GMP/ GLP/GDP;
  • Ensure any non-conformances are recorded and acted upon promptly;
  • Provide support for production trials, root cause analysis and improvement projects as required;
  • Ensuring all Lab instrumentation in use in the plant is maintained and calibrated and that all results derived from them are valid;
  • Ensure all appropriate personnel trained and competency assessed on the use of testing equipment;
  • Ensure the laboratory operates safe working practices maintaining a clean & tidy workplace. Actively seek to improve laboratory working practices and methods;
  • Complete laboratory tests as required;
  • Complete GMP audits;
  • Support all external audit preparation activities / regulatory inspections as requested;
  • Manage sections of the quality system that are assigned by the Site Quality Head;
  • Complete customer complaint & deviation investigations as advised;
  • Fulfil any other reasonable responsibility or duty as identified or requested by the Quality Ops Manager/ Site Quality Head
