Job Description
The Project
Somerton Intermodal Terminal is a flagship project for the freight rail industry and will offer a location that services the longer train profiles proposed as part of the Federal Governments Inland Rail commitment. The new intermodal rail hub is an exciting new $400m Design and Construct (D&C) project that will involve, groundworks, track renewals, heavy duty pavements, structures and signalling.

The Opportunity
The Quality Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager for the Somerton Intermodal Terminal Project. The position provides support to establish quality and completion systems and controls to successfully deliver the project. The Quality Engineer will ensure that all quality and completion requirements are satisfied when transitioning finished works to the Client and Stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities for the position will be:

  • Assist with the establishment of Project Plans and procedures.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues relating to quality and completion.
  • Monitor the completion of quality records.
  • Assist with the establishment of quality and completion performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality standards and legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation of and review quality and completion documentation and records.
  • Attend site to carry out periodic surveillance.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary Qualified in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Analytical skills for reviewing quality documentation, records and performance
  • High level communication skills, both written and verbal.
