Description Summary Member of the HPPT (Hight Performance Production Team of a designated value stream) that helps in conducting activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Aids in the maintenance of AS9100 Based Quality Management System Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of the assigned product or component. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Performs quality engineering reviews for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records. Completes internal audits as scheduled Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor. Documents data obtained during all quality activities consistent with company policies and procedures. Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities. Drives resolution of Non-conformance issues (internal and external), RMAs, CAs and NMRs Review and submittal of First Article Inspection Reports per customer requirements. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management. Reviews reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities. Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management. Suggests directions of technical and administrative workers engaged in quality activities to the employee’s direct supervisor. Prepares Inspection Method Sheets when required Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards. Promotes Smiths leadership traits and culture, such as but not limited to, being safety conscious, having a positive attitude and a team building mentality Consistently, regularly, and dependably at work and on time Requirements Education and/or Experience 3 years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in quality with exceptional performance reviews and a demonstrated aptitude to perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed in this job description.
Responsibilities
The Quality Engineer will develop and initiate inspection standards while maintaining the AS9100 Quality Management System. They are responsible for driving the resolution of non-conformance issues and performing quality reviews to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
